BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Feb 5: 60-year-old Abala Barman can realize that no customer steps in her PCO to make a call but she has been keeping it open for last 16 years without any break. Barman, who started the PCO in 2005 at Ulubari close to flyover in the city, has not closed down the PCO despite having no customers, because she has a penchant for antique items.

“I know, in the time of smart phone and internet no body come to call from my PCO. But I have a desire to preserve antiquities, so I have not shut down the PCO till today,” Barman said.

Barman said that she has also preserved old postage stamps, coins and recently banned Rs 1000 and 500 currency notes.

“I have kept all this in the PCO,” she said. She further added that she would also have preserved vintage cars but due to fincial crisis she could not fulfill her that desire.

“As I my fincial condition is not so sound, I can afford to do so,” she said.
