60th biennial conference of ACKS

Doomdooma, April 13: The 60th biennial conference of Asam Chah Karmachari Sangha (ACKS), Doomdooma Branch was held at its auditorium recently with a day-long programme with president Bimal Baruah in the chair. More than 150 delegates of 50 tea-gardens under it attended the conference. It got underway with hoisting of flag and lighting of ceremonial lamp by president Bimal Baruah. The general body meeting was held thereafter. In the beginning it condoled the death of former central committee vice-president Bhupen Borgohain and former secretary Borchola Branch and No.3 Regional Officer Hiranya Bhushan Mahanta. Secretary Girish Chandra Barpatra Gohain read out the secretarial report and audited accounts which were passed by the house. A number of resolutions on new salary structure, filling up of vacant posts, not abolishing the existing facilities in the name of reduction of expenditure and offering of improved healthcare facilities were adopted in the meeting.
