67th Va Mahotsav observed

KOKRAJHAR, July 2: Along with the rest of the tion, the 67th Va Mohatsava is being observed in different parts of the district since July 1. Plantation of tress by NGOs, clubs, school and banks is going on in various places in the district.

State Bank of India, Kokrajhar Bazar branch, in collaboration with the135th Eco Task Force, Kokrajhar and Tengapara LP School, Kokrajhar held a plantation programme at Tengapara LP School in the school compound on Friday to mark its SBI Day celebration. BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, Doneswar Goyary iugurated the plantation programme in presence of officers of the 135 Eco Task Force, mager of Kokrajhar Bazar Branch, SBI, M. Brahma, headmaster of the school, Birinchi Kr. Brahma and local intellectuals.

Goyary said depletion of forest had badly affected the bio diversity. He said global warming was also increasing due to massive destruction of forest. He called upon the students and people to plant trees and conserve forest and wildlife.

Meanwhile, the Sanswrang Club of Serfanguri, is also carrying out plantation programme to mark the week-long Va Mahotsav in different places. The secretary of Sanswrang Club, Tugdao Brahma informed that the club has been continuing the plantation of trees in different places in Serfanguri area involving the local people and NGOs. He also said the club carried out similar programme on the occasion of World Environment Day and encouraged people to plant trees and save the world. The plantation programme was also taken part by the chairmen of local VCDCs, head of the institutions and local intellectuals.
