6th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival to begin today

UDALGURI, Jan 16: To promote tourism and awareness among the people, the 6th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival will begin from Wednesday at Bhairabkunda. The four-day long festival will begin with the hoisting of Bhairabkunda Tourism flag by Tridip Daimari, BTC Speaker and working president of the Bhairabkunda Festival committee. The Bhairabkunda festival committee under the chairmanship of Rihon Daimari, State PHE, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, is all set to host the festival.

 Ripen Daimari, Bhairabkunda MCLA and vice-president and Robison Daimari, the chief convener of the festival committee, has appealed to all the people to make the festival a success. Dilip Kumar Das, the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, will give a message of peace by flying a pair of pigeons during the festival. The festival will be formally iugurated by Lwmshrao Daimari, BTC EM, and the ethnic students’ union leaders will attend as the guests of honour. A spot art competition among school children will be iugurated by renowned artist Rabiram Brahma on the second day of the festival. The quiz competition will be iugurated by Dhiren Barua, the Headmaster of Golmagaon ME School. During the festival there will be semir on ‘Role and Responsibility of the students and youths in building a healthy social environment’.

 The semir will be iugurated by Dr. Luke Daimari, the Principal of Udalguri College, and will be attended by Simson Daimari, the Principal of Harisinga HS School, Puspadhar Sarma, the Principal of Udalguri H S School, among others. Another semir on ‘Destruction of Forest Resources and its effects: Role and Responsibility of the society’ will be iugurated by Kampa Borgoyari, the deputy chief of BTC.

 A traditiol cultural show and exchange programme between Bhutan, Aruchal Pradesh, and Assamese, Bodo, Gorkhali, Rabha, Adivasi and Koch Rajbongshi communities will also be held. The closing ceremony will be attended by Jayanta Malla Barua, the chairman of Assam Tourism Development Board, and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary. The souvenir Bhairabkunda will be released by Nilakanta Gayari, the secretary of Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The Bhairabkunda festival will begin on January 17 and conclude on January 20.
