6th bi-annual convention of Margherita Jourlists' Association concludes

MARGHERITA, February 7: Margherita Jourlists’ Association 6th bi-annual convention and Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district-level poet conference concluded on Sunday at Ledo College premises.

The programme began on Saturday with the hoisting of the Association flag by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlists’ Association. Among other events, a poets’ meet was held where Dr Runjun Saikia, Associate Professor of Margherita College, and her husband Shyamalkhetra Gogoi’s book titled Sutalpuk, a collection of poems, was released by Dipika Saikia, noted poet from Duliajan. The poets’ meet was conducted by Ledo Xakha Kabi Sanmihlon and Ledo Xakha Xahiyta Xabha. The poets’ meet programme was presided over by Punya Saikia, former president of Tinsukia district Xahitya Xabha.

Punya Saikia in speech said that everyone has hidden talent which should be exposed. The first day’s programme concluded with the formation of a new committee of Margherita Jourlists’ Association where Ram Prasad Ambedkar was unimously selected as president, Rajiv Ningkhee as advisor, Partha Pratim Goswami as vice-president, Ra Jyoti Neog as general secretary, Mithun Baruah as organizing secretary, Mash Pratim Gogoi as magazine secretary, Faizur Rehman as treasurer along with other executive members.

The second day’s programme began with the TV show Bartalap where many tribes and ethnic tribes of Margherita region performed traditiol songs and dance.  After that the open session began which was presided over by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlists’ Association where many distinguished persons were present such as Dr Kripa Prasad Upadhaya,  Principal of Ledo College, Jagat Changmai, veteran jourlist of Margherita and president of Ledo Xakha Xahitya Xabha.

Jagat Changmai in his speech said that Margherita had many tribes and ethnic Tribes living together. Rajdeep Bailung Baruah appealed to jourlists of Margherita to do more research and work for the tion and society.
