SHILLONG, April 7:  Maging Director of TATA Chemicals Limited, Ramakrahrisn Mukundan, attended the convocation ceremony of the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Magement (RGIIM) held at Shillong on Tuesday.

A total of 119 students were awarded Post Graduate Diplomas in Magement (PGDM) while 31 students were awarded certificates on completion of the Post Graduate Programme for Executive Diploma.

Ramakrishn Mukundan, in his address to the students, underlined the role that they have to play in the corporate sector and the economy as whole.

He also spoke on other aspects of life. “It’s not important to be sure of what you want as long as you are in good company. It’s not the size of the purse that matters but the size of the purpose,” he said. He also urged the students that they should never forget the difference between the haves and the have not’s and should use their privileged position to contribute and make changes for a more equitable world.

“Young graduates like you look in wonderment if I am one of the museum pieces. But let me assure you that monogamy in career is as good as monogamy in marital life. You must choose your career well. You need to choose your firm well just like you need to choose your spouse well,” he said.

Addressing the convocation, Falguni Rajkumar, Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG) of IIM Shillong welcomed the parents and students to the convocation. He also conveyed his wishes to the students and also to the parents for their support, time and above all their unstinted trust in their wards.

“As young future corporate and business leaders recharged with ideas and ambitious zeal, it is also the time to ponder about what lies ahead in the world of commerce and business,” he said.
