6th Stipend Award Ceremony of Kamala Bezboruah Memorial Trust held

GUWAHATI, Sept 29: The annual award ceremony of stipends of the Kamala Bezboruah Memorial Trust was held in the office of the Director of Employment & Craftsmen Training at Rehabari here today, stated a press release.

The function was attended by the teachers and faculty members of some of the Institutes and also the senior officers of the department like K.C.Sarma, Director, J.Rabha,  M Sen Joint Directors and the officers of the directorate and trainees who were awarded the stipends.

The award function was presided over by Kak Chandra Sarma, Director of Employment and Craftsmen Training. The function commenced with an address of welcome by Shai J Rabha, Joint Director of the directorate of State Employment and Craftsmen Training.

The welcome address was followed by garlanding the photograph of late Kamala Bezboruah and lighting of the lamp as a mark of respect to her memory.

Satyendra th Phukan, Maging Trustee of the Kamala Bezboruah Memorial Trust, explained that the Trust, constituted with the dotion of Late Amala Bezboruah, the eldest daughter of Late Kamala Bezboruh, have been offering fincial assistance to the Trainees undergoing training in various skills since the year 2009. Until this year, over 300 trainees had received fincial assistance. Each trainee received an amount of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees six thousand only) per annum. He mentioned that the present government is giving great importance to the development of skill of young men and women for gainful employment and utilization of their skill in specific industries in manufacturing and construction works, required for the development of the country and its economy.

Late Amala Bezboruah, in specifying her desire for grant of fincial assistance to young boys and girls undergoing training in skill development as far back as in 1992, utilizing her entire assets showed her concern for development of skill in our young men and women.

Kak Chandra Sarma, the present Director of Craftsmen Training welcomed the noble gesture of the Trust in giving fincial assistance to young men and women being trained in different skills.

P Talukdar, former Joint Director spoke of how the stipend award to trainees was started in 2009.

The stipend cheques were  distributed to all the candidates who had come to receive the stipends.
