6th triennial conference of Assam Gorkha Sammelan begins

 Bongaigaon, May 6: The 6th triennial conference of Assam Gorkha Sammelan, Bongaigaon district committee, started on Saturday with a two-day programme at the District Library Auditorium, Bongaigaon.  Manoj Sarma from the organizing committee said that the programme started on Saturday with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Bongaigaon town. “A drawing competition was held there among the students and thereafter a discussion over the topic ‘Contribution of woman in Indian culture’ was held. Rekha  Sarma, vice-president of the Sanmelan, eminent writer Gobinda Sandilya and many others took part in this discussion,” he said. He said that the programme on Sunday will start with hoisting of six flags. “RP Sharma , president of the Assam Gorkha Sammelan central committee and MP from Tezpur will be the chief guest in the open session. Several other noted persons including Bhaskar Dahal and Sibi Ray, both central general secretaries,  and Prem Sarma, advocate of Gauhati High Court, will be present,” he added.
