7 child patients referred to Operation Smile’s centre under RBSK

 SILCHAR, January 12: Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is a new initiative of tiol Health Mission to improve child survival and quality of life and aimed at screening children from 0 to 18 years for 4 Ds – Defects at birth, Diseases, Deficiencies and Development Delays including disabilities and adolescent health concerns. Children diagnosed with illnesses shall receive follow up including surgeries at tertiary level in free of cost. tiol Health Mission, Hailakandi has done tie –up with Operation Smile (India) Guwahati for the surgery of these patients. A team of patients of cleft lip and palate identified by mobile health teams under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), NHM, Hailakandi through screening in different schools and Anganwadi Centres of Hailakandi.

In first phase, 7 patients (out of total 15 identified patients) along with their attendants have been sent for surgery at Operation Smile’s center situated at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital, Panbazar, Guwahati today. The entire cost including travel expenditure, accommodation, medicine and surgery for the patients will provide in free of cost. The SDM and HO cum District Nodal Officer–RBSK, Hailakandi and District Coorditor –RBSK, NHM, Hailakandi were present during sending off the team from Hailakandi to Guwahati.
