7 hurt in road mishaps

Shillong, Dec 7: Seven persons sustained injuries in four separate road mishaps that occurred in different parts of Meghalaya on Thursday.

Three persons were seriously injured when the Tata Sumo they were travelling from Guwahati towards Shillong turned turtle at Quinine in Ri-bhoi district around 3.30 pm. Other passengers in the vehicle too received minor injuries. The three severely injured passengers have been as Mercy Hmar (58), Rohu Mali (47) and Robihul Hussain (58). The injured were first taken to Umsning CHC, before being shifted to Shillong.

In another incident, a Maruti Alto 800 travelling towards Jowai was hit by tanker coming from the opposite direction at Mookyndur in West Jaintia Hills district around 3.30 pm. Two occupants of the car were injured in the incident and they have been identified as Wanrapmi Pyrtuh (31) and Risuk Shylla (25). The injured were admitted to Jowai Civil Hospital.

In yet another accident, 25-year-old Lidius Jyrwa from Seinduli in West Khasi Hills district was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a taxi at Nongstoin around 2.20 pm. The incident happened when Lidius was on his way to Umjahlang from Nongstoin. The injured has been admitted to Nongstoin Civil Hospital.

In the fourth incident, 20-year-old Walsrang G Momin was hurt after he fell down from a moving auto. The incident happened at ringre, 10 km away from Rongjeng, in East Garo Hills district around 10:30 am. According to reports, the auto was carrying passengers beyond its capacity and was on its way to Jamge. On reaching a curve at ringre, Walsrang lost his grip and fell down from the moving auto. He has been admitted to Rongjeng CHC.
