70th foundation day of Kalaigaon Village Defense Party observed

KALAIGAON: The Kalaigaon Village Defense Party (VDP), under the initiative of Kalaigaon police station, organized its 70th foundation day on Tuesday with a day-long programme in the premises of Kalaigaon police station.

The function started with cleanliness drive and Jogeshwar Bhatta, secretary of Kalaigaon VDP, inaugurated the drive. After that Nurul Hussain, president of Kalaigaon VDP, hoisted their flag. A cultural procession was also taken out after the homage ceremony. The procession was inaugurated by Biraj Baruah, Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle.

An open meeting was held. Bhabananda Deka, OC of Kalaigaon police station, formally inaugurated this meeting where Longnit Terong, Udalguri Superintendent of Police, attended as chief guest. Several noted persons like social worker Mahendra Saikia and Kamiram Saharia took part in this meeting as special guests.

More than 500 VDP activists from 10 police stations like Tangla, Paneri, Dimakuchi, Khairabari, Udalguri, Rowta, Orang, Majbat, Harishinga and Kalaigaon took part in this meeting. A cultural function was held after the open meeting.
