70th Van Mahotsava: Plantation drive carried out in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: A week-long plantation programme to commemorate the 70th Van Mahotsava was organized by Hapoli Forest Division with the theme “Lets Green the Valley”. RFO Tage Hanya informed that 4,500 seedlings were also distributed to various educational institutions, government offices and the general public to mark the celebration in a befitting manner.

The plantation started from Siikhe Artificial Lake, wherein more than 350 saplings including Prunus Cerasoidies (wild cherry), Cuppressus Macrocarpa (Goldcrest) & Juglan Regia (Walnut) were planted all around the periphery of the lake with proper plant guard. More than 200 volunteer from All Apatani Gaon Burah/ Buri Association, Dutta Pyapung Conservation Club, Ngunu Ziro and Siikhe Multipurpose Cooperative Society participated in the programme.

Plantation for village beautification in the approach roads were also carried out with 350 cherry saplings being planted with active participation from All Hija Youth Association at Hija Village, All Hong Youth Association at Hong Village and Biodiversity Management Committee, Niitiiat Hanoko.
