74.49% Students From Northeast Clear CBSE Class-X Exam

GUWAHATI: Altogether 74.49% of students from the eight north-eastern States have cleared this year’s CBSE Class-X examinations, the results of which were declared on Monday.

Out of 63,238 candidates who appeared for the Class-X final examinations from the CBSE’s Guwahati Region, 42,285 came out with flying colours. The pass percentage among boys was 74.61 as against 74.36 per cent girls who cleared the exam. The Guwahati Region under the CBSE covers all north-eastern States including Sikkim.

While the pass percentage of the Kendriya Vidyalayas was 98.47, that of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas was 95.13. On the other hand, the private schools scored a pass percentage of 92.73; the pass percentage in the government schools was the lowest at 52.67.

The government schools of Arunachal Pradesh have always been poor performers under the CBSE’s Guwahati zone. Their results have not improved despite receiving regular instructions from the CBSE office.

Students from 966 schools appeared for this year’s Class-X exams at 337 centres across the North East.

Don Bosco School, Pan Bazar, a leading CBSE-affiliated private school has once again performed well in the Class-X final exam results. Out of 174 students who appeared for the examination, 63 scored more than 90% and 61 above 80% average marks in all subjects. Aman Patni was the school topper with 96.4% Expressing delight over the results, school principal Fr. Sebastian Mathew attributed the success to the overall efforts of all stake holders of the school particularly sincerity of students and teachers.

Modern English School, Guwahati has also made impressive performance 17 students scored above 90% and 23 others got over 80% average in all subjects. Altogether 113 students appeared in the exam. Ahmed Rocky Saikia was the school topper with 98.6%

On other hand, 13 students in the country have emerged as toppers in this year’s CBSE Class-X results after scoring 499 out of 500 marks. Twenty-four students shared the second rank with 498 out of 500 marks, and 58 students came third with 497 marks.
