75 Rohingya Muslims have been identified since last ten years: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: State Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati stated that around 75 identified Rohingya Muslims have been identified by the Border Police and security forces since September 22, 2009 to July 12, 2019.

As per the data provided by the Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed that some of the identified Rohingyas were deported back to their native country and a few of them are in judicial custody and others are detained at Goalpara, Tezpur and Silchar detention camps.

The minister also mentioned that many Rohingyas had escaped from the shelter homes in states like Telangana, Delhi, Jammu to raise a donation from Assam. He further stated that an NGO namely Sahil Education Society has been collaborating with them.

Also talking about the recent arrests made by Assam police for posting objectionable and Anti-India posts in social media, Assam Police had booked 19 cases out of which 15 people have been arrested in connection to the matter.

The Minister further informed that there are multiple Anti-India posts from various fake accounts from Silchar. "Assam police has been investigating those accounts," said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
