SARUPATHAR, June 12: On the occasion of the 75th death anniversary of Kushal Konwar, the administration and the public of Sarupathar will organize a grand function on June 15. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest of the function while Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain, State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra will also be present. Freedom fighter Kushal Konwar was the only martyr in India who was hanged during the last phase of the Quit India Movement in the year 1942-43 for conspiracy against the British Government and train sabotage at Sarupathar Railway Station. He was hanged at Jorhat Central Jail on June 15, 1943.
