GOLAGHAT, April 29: The 75th Pulibor Rongali Bihu Sanmilan kicked off on Saturday at Pulibor Rangamancha. The three-day long Bihu Sanmilan has been organized by Pulibor Lachit Jirani Chora with the help of the people of Golaghat. For smooth conduct of the Bihu Sanmilan, an organizing committee had been formed with Rup Konwar as president.
On the first day, 74 flags were hoisted by various dignitaries and flag of Moharajat Jayanti was hoisted by noted social activist Prafulla Rajkumar. The smriti stambh and smriti tarpan were done by social activist Bhimkanta Gogoi and botanical scientist Dr. Padmeswar Gogoi. Later, various competitions were held among the students. In evening, the Xoru Bihuwati and Borbihuwati competition were held.
On May 1, an open session will be held where the Director of Assam Agricultural University, Dr. Pradip Neog will preside over the meeting. State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, MP Gourav Gogoi will take part in the programme as special guests and Dr Anil Saikia, retired Principal of Moran College, will take part as special speaker. Famous singer Neel Akash will perform in the cultural night programme.
