79 BTC Secretariat employees  face pay cut

KOKRAJHAR, April 25: In a stringent action against absent employees, the Personnel Department of BTC has issued pay cut notice to the employees for dereliction in their duties. Sources from the BTC Secretariat said as many as 79 employees of the Secretariat, including sweepers and senior officials, had unauthorized absence on March 26 and March 27. The Personnel Department has cut the pay of the employees who failed to attend office on March 26 and March 27.

On March 26, a 12-hour Assam bandh was called by the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA-Pradip Nak faction) in support of their demands. The bandh passed off peacefully in Kokrajhar evoking poor response. The BTC authority has reportedly issued notice to its employees not to derelict from their duty and warned that officials who fail to attend office will have to face pay cut.
