7th Pay Commission Benefits for the Employees of Several States

With more and more states coming forward to announce their 7th pay commission benefits for their employees, it is now the Uttar Pradesh government's turn to announce 7th pay commission pay scale benefits to teachers and professors of state-run institutions. This new announcement by the government will now cost it to pay a whopping Rs 921.54 crore as pay to its employees every year.

As per the announcement, the new pay scales to be rendered to the state and related cadre teachers will come into effect from January 1, 2016. However, Uttar Pradesh is not the only state to announce the 7th pay commission lately as Madhya Pradesh too is following it. The Public Relation Minister of the state, Narottam Mishra has announced 7th pay commission scale to its professors of every state-funded college as well. With the new hike in the pays of the state government employees will take effect on January 1, 2016, the professors of the state-funded colleges too will be paid arrears for 32 months.

Before the announcements of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the other states to take a lead in this tradition are Tripura and Puducherry. However, Bihar government might also be considering the idea as the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has constituted a 3-member panel to look into the professors and teachers' demand of pay hike.

Another state which is playing a total deaf role, in this case, is Jammu and Kashmir as, despite protests for demanding a salary hike by its teaching staffs, the state government is not paying much heed to them.

However, the central government employees also have a good news for them as the Union Cabinet had hiked their dearness allowance (DA) by 2 per cent to 9 per cent on August 29. This new hike in the pay will cost the government Rs 6,112.20 crore per annum and about 48.41 lakh Central Government employees and 62.03 lakh pensioners will be benefitted from this.
