GUWAHATI: Eight members of West Indies Cricket team will arrive in the city on October 15, two-day before the scheduled arrival of the teams, for the forthcoming ODI. These cricketers are the part of the ODI squad and will travel straight from their country to Guwahati. The remaining members of the team will join them on October 17.

As per the schedule, both India and West Indies will land Guwahati on October 17 for the first match of the ODI series which will be held at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara on October 21. However, these eight cricketers are not the part of the current West Indies team which is playing the Test series and would fly straight to Guwahati from their country.

The secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Pradip Buragohain today informed the media that they received communication from the Board on the advance arrival of a section of Caribbean cricketers in the city. “Eight cricketers- Ashley Nurse, Marlon Samuels, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Oshane Thomas, Rovman Powell, and Obed McCoy- will land in Guwahati on October 15. The other members of the team and Indian squad will reach in Guwahati as per schedule on October 17,” said Buragohain.

Meanwhile, Assam Cricket Association has received a good response in the ticket sale of the forthcoming ODI. Buragohain said,” Except some high prices tickets like Rs 4000 and Rs 5000, the other categories are already sold out. We have also received good demands in the tickets of district quotas also. If any tickets are remained unsold in the district quotas those will be sold in online later.”

He also added: “For the benefit of the spectators we have decided to open the gate on match day two-hour before the start of the game.”
