82nd birth anniversary of Dr Kaliprasad Singha

Silchar, Jan 8: The central committees of Bishnupriya Manipuri bodies that include Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Students Union (NBMSU), Bishnupriya Manipuri Gasangram Parishad (BMGSP) and All India Bishnupriya Manipuri People’s Mahasabha (ALBMPM) celebrated the 82nd birth anniversary of Dr Kaliprasad Singha, former head, Rabindrath Tagore School of Indian Language and Culture, Assam University and founder of Bishnupriya Manipuri Language Teaching Training Centre recently at Dr Kaliprasad Memorial Divyashram Sanskriti Kendra, West Kachudaram, Chencoorie, Silchar.
 The programme began with lighting of the auspicious lamp at 9.30 am. 82 lamps were lit to mark the legend’s 82nd birthday. Dr Kaliprasad Memorial Award was given to Gajendra Kumar Singha and rendra Chandra Singha for their outstanding contributions in the field of literature. Tombak Singha received the same for his relentless service towards the society. About 300 diploma holders and more than 500 social workers take an active part in the celebration.
