9th biennial conference of Tinsukia district Satra Mahasabha concludes

Doomdooma, Dec 19: The three-day long 9th biennial conference of Tinsukia district Satra Mahasabha and Xetubandhan programme of Asom Satra Mahasabha that began at Rupai High School field from December 16, concluded on Sunday.

The highlight of the concluding day’s programme was a colourful procession with 40 pairs of Gayan-Bayan taken out around the main streets of Rupaisiding around noon. It was flagged off by local MLA Durga Bhumij. In the afternoon, the open session was held under the president ship of Chakreswar Mahanta, president, Tinsukia District Satra Mahasabha.

A souvenir Padapsdma brought out under the editorship of Prakash Dutta was released by Dr Pitambar Dev Goswami, Xatradhikar, Auniati Xatra.

 The session was addressed by several speakers including Joganda Goswami of Dinjay Xatra, Harideb Goswami, Kushum Kumar Mahanta, Jitendra th Pradhani and Dr Arundhati Mahanta. In the evening Mati Akhara and bhao was staged by the artists of Auniati Xatra.

Hemaprabha Chutia of Phatikchowa village, Moran, who became chief attraction of the conference for her handloom-woven hazari ghosha and gumala over a gamosa, was given a public felicitation in the meeting.
