A groom who made his way amid heavy snow fall to marry his bride in Uttarakhand

Guwahati: Setting the perfect scene for a Bollywood film or rather you can say DDLJ Part II (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge), this true story of a groom and his relatives trekking through snow-clad paths to reach the bride’s home and finally marry her is brow raising and astonishing. This is the story of Rajnish Kurmachali, the groom and his relatives are the ones who had to trek through a path of 6 km amidst snow and make sure that they reach the bride’s place for completing the rest of the ceremonies and bring her home along.

This is the incident of Uttrakhand as the groom living in Triyuginarayan village starts his journey along 80 other friends and relatives with the purpose of reaching the Makku Math in Rudraprayag where the bride and her family waits for the arrival of the groom. But things did not go well and heavy snowfall started to hamper the groom’s party in continuing their journey. The heavy snowfall and the snow-filled path made it even difficult for the group to proceed further at which point they decided to send the vital people along the groom so that the wedding rituals could be conducted whiteout any trouble. As decided, the groom’s father, some elderly people, his sisters and brothers accompanied the groom along with a few children of the relatives.

The whole stretch of 6 km seemed pretty enjoyable for the kids playing with snow while making their way to the wedding venue and the wedding procession comprised of only 25 people made it look a pretty unique wedding procession.

Groom’s brother, Ashish Gairola said, “We had seen a wedding procession like this in 2002 and now this was the next one. People will talk about this procession and the wedding for years as in both the weddings the groom was an army jawan.”

Gairola further adding about the journey, said, “If you see the pictures then you would question whether they were even feeling cold, forget difficulty. My eight-year-old son played with snow throughout the way.”

Notably, the village has been suffering from the demerits of snowfall since last seven days as there has been no electricity so long and this has created quite an inconvenience for the villagers. The village head of Triyuginarayan, Bijay Lal said, “Even I had to go to the wedding but were all stuck due to the snow. But those who went enjoyed the whole journey and the wedding took place without any problem.”

All said and done, the groom finally reaches the bride and the marriage takes place which makes it news to cherish.
