AACS seeks probe

Itagar, May 28: The Aruchal Anti-Corruption Se (AACS) has expressed dismay at the Centre for ordering a probe into allegations of embezzlement, misappropriation, corruption and siphoning off of government funds to the tune of over Rs 900 crore in the state.

On Monday, the ministry of DoNER had ordered a probe into the allegations in various centrally-sponsored schemes related to non-lapsable central pool of resources and North-Eastern Council for the period 2011-12 to 2014-15.

The inquiry was ordered following a complaint by BJP MLAs alleging the state government of “misuse and misappropriation” of central funds. “The AACS and other organizations have been alleging the state government of misappropriation of various central schemes to the tune of Rs 6,911.55 crore. Only Rs 900 crore has been taken into cognizance and that too on the complaint lodged by MLAs,” AACS said while expressing dismay.

AACS, in a press statement today also questioned the BJP MLAs for lodging complaint only under NLCPR and NEC schemes leaving Rs 6,000 crore of various centrally sponsored schemes aside. Taking a dig at the ministry, it expressed dismay at DoNER for not acknowledging rampant corruption in the state.

AACS does not believe in inquiry, it said while expressing pessimism about the possible outcome of the inquiry. We demand CBI investigation that too for the entire Rs 6911.35 crore, it added, the statement added.
