AACU bats for technical person to head APST

Itagar, May 27: Alleging that due to faulty policies of Aruchal Pradesh Civil Services (APCS) officers, huge liabilities are being created in Aruchal Pradesh State Transport Services, Aruchal Anti-Corruption Union (AACU) has requested Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to take appropriate action for conversion of APSTS into an engineering department and appointment of general mager from engineering background.

In its representation to the chief minister on Thursday, the union opined that since APST is a revenue generating department, it should be headed by technical person, as it has to deal with automobile and other engineering materials.

“Where question of revenue and services are concerned, professiol expert are preferred universally. For the sake of APCS officers, the whole department and its 800 staffs cannot be made scapegoat”, AACU stated. It further claimed that a current state of affairs in the department is due to wrong policy of non-technical people.

It also claimed that department was in good health during deputation of officers with technical background from other parts of the state.

In a separate memorandum to the Chief Secretary, the union sought strong action be initiated against gambling culture in the me of festivals and social functions. It said that gambling like dice have ruined many families and the culture should be ended for the greater interest of the people.
