AACWA criticizes PWD over slow work

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Jan 18: The All Aruchal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) today criticized the PWD (highway) division for its ibility to complete work on the tiol highway between Itagar and Banderdewa, accusing the division of being incapable of coming good on its word.

In a press release, the association said the department has only issued assurances in the dailies that the work would be completed within months, but ‘several bridges, culverts, drains and blacktopping work are yet to be completed’.

It accused the department and the contractors working on the highway of not only being slow but carrying out substandard blacktopping in harlagun, adding that they blacktopped only a few metres of the road and left out the parts that were widened recently.

The AACWA also meanwhile urged the Itagar municipal council to bring down the parking fees for vehicles, and to employ well-trained persons to collect the fees.

Fixing reasoble parking fees would help bring down reckless parking and assist in smooth movement of traffic in the capital, it said.
