SHILLONG, Oct 19: To sway away people from misleading notion about AADHAR registration and holding of the tiol card, the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian (KJP) church has step in to tell the faithful that the Aadhar card is not blasphemous.
The timely intervention of the powerful Church body in the State came amidst report that a section of people who refused to get themselves registered under AADHAR–after infused ideas that it is related to the so-called number 666 which is anti- Christian. In most parts of West Khasi Hills district, the problems of carrying out the AADHAR registration has encountered multiple roadblocks to the extent that the people have even refused to get themselves enrolled with Election Commission of India for similar fear.
Notwithstanding the minuscule population that refused to be part of India’s largest exercise, the powerful KJP (Synod Sepngi) passed a resolution in its August 27th Executive Council to disapproved the belief that is not in sync with the church. The KJP Executive Council held certain sections of the misplaced preachers of the Bible as responsible for the predicament of certain faithful.
Besides the ritualistic sermons, the powerful Church body has also circulated pamphlets through the clergies to enlighten the people that Aadhar is not against the belief of the Christians. The pamphlets are signed by the moderator HF Wahlang and senior executive secretary DS Sohkhlet of KJP Sepngi.
Sharing its light with the followers of the faith, the KJP Synod said, “AADHAR has nothing to do with the revelation in the Bible” even as it propagate it’s understanding that AADHAR is a twelve digit number while the 666 (anti-Christ number) is a three digit number which is applicable for various purposes of the citizens of the Country.
The KJP Synod also asked the clergies of the local community to be vigilant on distorted propagation of the Bible in their respective domains. The Presbyterian Church intervention came at a time when there are other aspects that has plagued the government process of getting the AADHAR registration.
