AAGSU calls Tinsukia district bandh on May 9

MARGHERITA, May 7: All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) Tinsukia District Committee has declared Tinsukia district strike on May 9 in protest against the brutal murder of Chama Chetry whose body was found at Dehing River, Lama Gaon. A press meet was organized by All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union, Tinsukia District Committee at Nepali Shiv Mandir premises, Margherita on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Numal Chetry, president of AAGSU Tinsukia District Committee. Kamalraj Chetry, secretary of Gorkha Sanmehlan Tinsukia District, Jagat Sharma,vice-president of AAGSU Tinsukia District Committee along with more than 50 AAGSU members were present at the press meet. Numal Chetry said that eight months ago a Margherita College student was brutally raped and murdered by three youths. Now a young girl, Champa Chetry had been killed.
