UDALGURI, Jan 2: The BTC region committee of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union has sought the Governor’s intervention on the BTC nomitions. The students’ union have resented that even after three years passed of the tenure of the present BTC government, the posts of six nomited members had not been filled up yet. A three-member delegation of BTC region committee of AAGSU met the Assam Governor at Raj Bhavan and urged him to take initiatives to provide land pattas to the Gorkha dwellers in BTC and also to reserve two BTC seats for the Gorkha candidates.
The delegation comprised Dimbeswar Upadhyaya, the adviser, John Chouhan, the president, and Rohit Kumar Dahal, the general secretary of BTC region committee, AAGSU. The delegates also demanded to appoint Nepali language teachers in the schools where Nepali speaking students were 15 per cent and above. The Governor of Assam patiently heard them and assured to take initiatives to resolve their problems. Rohit Kumar Dahal, the general secretary of BTC region AAGSU, stated this in a release.
