AAMSU, AASA protests evoke sharp reaction

GOLAGHAT, Nov 5: The people of Golaghat district reacted strongly while AAMSU and AASA of Golaghat district carried out a protest on Thursday on the day of Bhupen Hazarika’s death anniversary.

At a time when various social organizations and the people of Assam were busy in the remembering the legend Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s contribution, AAMSU Golaghat district committee and AASA Golaghat district committee staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner office separately. Many AAMSU activists took part in the programme and raised slogans against the Central Government and State Government. They demanded to stop harassment to minority refugees coming from other States after completion of NRC. On the other hand, AASA Golaghat district committee demanded to pay Rs 177 to tea garden labourers as daily wage.

The secretary of Golaghat Press Club, Diganta Kumar Bhuyan said that the act of the two organizations was sad. They should not have staged protest on the day of Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s death anniversary, he said.
