AAP leaders meet Bassi, seek BJP leader's arrest

New Delhi, October 5: Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Monday called on Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi to demand the arrest of BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar for illegally confining and threatening a senior NDMC official in his office. AAP leaders Dilip Pandey and Saurabh Bhardwaj submitted a memorandum in this regard to Bassi as they met him in the afternoon. “Tanwar has been accused of illegally confining the director (projects and enforcement), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Neeraj Bharti, in his office and having threatened him by instigating supporters to beat him up,” said Pandey while terming the incident shameful after meeting Bassi.

“We made Bassi aware that Tanwar is a serial offender. Last year, he had misbehaved with a lady doctor working as CMO (chief medical officer) with NDMC,” he said. “We also told him that it was surprising to see police have not taken any action against the accused so far,” he added. The memorandum submitted to police, read: “...The AAP is stunned to see that police have not taken any action against Tanwar yet.. The AAP demands immediate arrest of Tanwar and his removal from the post of vice-chairman NDMC.

“Earlier, in a similar case, henchmen of BJP MP Udit Raj bashed up the DM (district magistrate) of North West Delhi in his office premises.  (IANS)
