AAPSU resents Government's decision

From Our Correspondent
Itagar, June 17: The All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) while welcoming the state government decision to hold an all party meeting on June 19 next as a follow up of its appeal on the vexed Chakma-Hajong refugee imbroglio, termed the development as a positive gesture and the reciprocal attitude of the state government on the issue as encouraging.
The AAPSU appealed all the representatives from different political parties to come prepared with best of the ideas for hammering out a permanent solution that has been lingering on for decades.
However, the apex students’ body of the state expressed concern over the reported move of the government to convene the all-party meet with representatives from political parties and AAPSU separately.
“The development is unwarranted and unnecessary because AAPSU being the one who mooted the all party meeting should be included in the meeting in the same schedule time rather than segregating AAPSU team from other invited invitees. The meeting should be inclusive in ture otherwise keeping away AAPSU will defeat the very purpose,” the union president Hawa Bagang and general secretary Tabom Dai said in a joint statement here on Friday. The union demanded the state government to make necessary amendment in its agenda whereby AAPSU could also be a part of the meeting with all the parties.
The Union also condemned the recent killing of an innocent civilian T Ngemu at Changlang district by the Assam Rifles.
In the press statement, AAPSU stated that Aruchal Pradesh is not a police state and the army should take utmost care to protect and safeguard the civilians.
The union appealed the concern authorities to compensate adequately to the victims family.
