Itagar, May 10: The All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has expressed resentment over the state government’s decision of constituting a one man enquiry committee led by agriculture commissioner Hage Khoda to unearth the truth behind the Tawang firing incident of May 2 last.
AAPSU president Kamta Lapung in a statement today alleged that the formation of a one man enquiry committee to investigate the sensitive firing incident is nothing but eyewash in order to befool the public.
Stating that the suspension of Tawang DC, SP and OC is not enough as there more officials and officers who were directly or indirectly involved in the untoward firing incident, AAPSU also demanded immediate suspension of the DSP, EAC cum judicial magistrate and officer in charge of 3rd IRBN, Seijosa who were as per the union’s findings were allegedly guarding the district civil court and JFMC merely at a distance of 10 meters from the police station where the incident took place.
The AAPSU also claimed that SP Tawang was informed by Inspector (SB) Kesang Norbu a day before the incident that a rally of such intensity would take place but still nor the SP or the district administration took preventive steps to deviate the incident.
While demanding for immediate termition of the entire IRBN personnel and OC 3rd IRBN Seijosa Lapung asserted, “According to our findings the incident was completely controlled by a section of IRBN as they broke the lockup where the arm and ammunitions were stored for safety measures and randomly started to fire at the protestors.”
“Even the SP had to flee away from the brutality shown by the IRBN personnel,” alleged the student’s leader.
The union also disclosed that though the chief minister had announced an ex-gratia for the family of the deceased but in reality till now no one had received it.
Clarifying that AAPSU is not against any developmental activities of the state but the inhuman killing of two innocent supporters protesting against the construction of dams has raised eyebrows, Lapung added chief minister Kalikho Pul who has been assuring the development needs to win the confidence of the common public and impress with their vision.
Former NESO secretary general Gumjum Haider stating that a cold blooded murder would never be accepted in a democracy, claimed that the incident was nothing but a complete failure of the state’s home department.
Further taking a dig at MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, Haider added, “If at all Rijiju thinks for the development and peaceful co-existence of the entire people of state he should not only give statement of assurance but should also strictly direct the state’s home department on how to maintain the law and order which is as of now totally in a paralyzed state.”
