ITAGAR, April 27: The All Aruchal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has asked the state government to come clear on the fincial position of the state government with reports of many cheques issue to contractors by various departments during March this year have been bounced due to non-availability of fund.

“Many contractors who invested all their life-long savings have been running from pillar to posts as their cheques issued by departments were being bounced. The non-availability of fund in the departments is due to overdraft,” AAPSU President Kamta Lapung said in a statement here.

Demanding the government to clear the fincial status of the state in front of the people, Lapung further asked the government to clear all the contractors’ payment within a week. “The state government cannot betray the contractors who are entirely dependent on contract works. It is the duty of the government to look at the welfare of the contractors and clear their legitimate due within a week. If the government cannot do so, the chief minister and his council of minister should gracefully resign,” Lapung categorically said.

The apex students’ body of the state also threatened to launch democratic movement if the government fails to clear all the pending dues of the contractors within the stipulated time, the statement added.
