ITAGAR, Oct 09: The All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Friday came hard on the political leaders of the State stating that the interl strife among the Congress MLAs in the State is unfortute and will weaken the fight on the Chakma-Hajong issue.
“The State government is in process of filing a review petition against the Supreme Court’s verdict of granting citizenship to the Chakma and Hajong refugees which needs cooperation within us. In place of fighting for the serious issue, our leaders are busy fighting for their individual interests which will disturb the movement against the refugees. It is the politics of the State that has always made this issue uttended,” the apex students’ body alleged in a statement.
“Chakma and Hajong is an iconic issue of the State for which AAPSU has fighting almost for half a century. Every individual, organizations and political leaders should come forward to fight against the refugees. It is a State issue and it will affect the demographic and economic life of the indigenous people if steps are not taken at the earliest. It would be best if the political leaders avoid the blame game and come forward to fight in the movement,” it added.
Meanwhile, the AAPSU informed that it is going to conduct a massive dhar at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 16 next and appealed the organizations and people of the State to cooperate.
