AASAA condemns HUL's anti-workers' policy

A Correspondent

Doomdooma, April 8: The All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA), Tinsukia District Executive Committee has condemned the alleged anti-workers’ policy of Hindustan-Unilever Limited (HUL) in retrenching its permanent workers. In a press statement, AASAA said that HUL, which came into being in 2001, gave employment to 714 workers in between 2001 to 2008. It had then two units only. Now it has expanded two more units. But in spite of its expansion to the fourth unit, the existing work- force has been reduced to 647. This speaks volumes about the HUL’s current employment policy. AASAA, while condemning the HUL’s anti-labour policy, cautioned the company to refrain from adopting repressive measures against workers for a healthy industrial relation.
