MARGHERITA, June 8: All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) Tinsukia District Committee president Mathias Dhan and general secretary Ramanus Lakra recently submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal through the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia district, demanding the inclusion of Adivasis of Assam in the list of Scheduled Tribes.

Ramanus Lakra said that in Assam there were 80 lakh Adivasi people but they were deprived, exploited and cheated. “We demand an economic annual package of Rs 100 crore from the Central Government for the Adivasi Development Council of Adivasi people living in Assam,” said Mathias Dhan and Ramanus Lakra.
