AASAA takes out bicycle rally at Tangla

TANGLA, Feb 24: Around 500 activist of All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) today took out a bicycle rally from Panery and Hatigor to the Office of Revenue Circle officer Harisinga located at Bazaarkhola of Tangla demanding land pattas. The protesters gheraod the Office shouting slogans and holding placards that read ‘no patta no vote’, ‘no land patta no rest’, ‘we want land patta’ etc. They also urged the government to provide five kg rice to each family under Food Security Act.  “The tea tribes people should be handed over land pattas by the government at the earliest or else we will not caste our vote to the Congress in the Coming Assembly elections,” said Lakhindra Mula, President of Panery AASAA. They also staged road blockade which was cleared after the intervention of Lakhya Jyoti Das, Khoirabari Revenue Circle Officer who is presently in charge of Harisinga Revenue Circle. They also submitted a memorandum with their various demands that include handing over of land pattas, increase of daily wage to Rs.330 etc; to the Chief Minister through office of Harisinga Revenue Circle officer.
