AASU activist attacked

Pathsala, July 6: In a sensational incident, one Deepjyoti Talukdar, advisor of Hastinapur Anchalik unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) was seriously injured when a youth reportedly attacked him with sharp weapons on Thursday at Pathsala town under Barpeta district. Deepjyoti received multiple injuries in the head and other parts of his body. He filed an FIR against the culprit named Pinku Pathak at Pathsala police outpost in Barpeta district.

It is learnt that Deepjyoti was called by the culprit and attacked suddenly with sharp weapons near Pathsala Swahid Madan Rawta Civil Hospital. The injured AASU activist was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. The incident has created sensation in the locality. Meanwhile, the police registered a case ( No 435/18 u/s IPC 307) and the accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The intention behind the attack is not clear.
