Joysagar, June 15: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Sivasagar district committee with the help of Sivasagar Subdivisiol and Regiol AASU unit held a felicitation function to honor the students of HSLC and HS fil exam held this year. The programme was held at Sivasagar tya Mandir on Thursday.
The function was presided over by the AASU district president Ashim Dutta while the objective of the programme was elaborated by regiol AASU president Dipankar Saikia. AASU chief advisor Dr. Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya attended the function as chief guest. Dr. Bhattacharyya in his speech greeted the meritorious students for their achievement and appealed to them to carry on the same approach in future too.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhattacharyya also focused on the present day education system and the changing pattern of various studies and examitions. He appealed to the State Education Department to review the examition system, marking system and also the much debated grace mark system.
A total of 591 students from Sivasagar district were honoured by the AASU. A sapling of tree, a book card worth Rs.500, a memento, a certificate and a gamusa were offered to each of the students who passed this year’s HSLC and HS fil exam with distinction or with at least 85 per cent aggregate mark.
In today’s felicitation function, AASU central leaders like Biren Saikia, Himen Barman, Sarat Hazarika, Nilofar Rahman, Surya Bhuyan, Jun Khound, Mridul Hazarika and many others were present as guests. The students of the Sivasagar Girls’ College presented a chorus written by Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.
