AASU conference held at Jagiroad

JAGIROAD, March 20: The 17th annual conference of the Morigaon district unit of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) was held at the Swahid Lakhi Deka High School here on March 18 and March19. The programme started with the hoisting of the AASU flag by Mun Thakuria, president of AASU's Morigaon district committee.  Addressing the open session AASU advisor Dr Sammujjal Kumar Bhattacharya said that a parallel economic movement should have been started in Assam along with the Assam movement. He further added that the indigenous people of the state  will have to move unitedly for the very existence of the greater Assamese tion. He also blamed the State government for creating chaos in the process of NRC updating. The open session was iugurated by Bhaben Chandra Neog, Principal of Jagiroad College. The session was also addressed by Ms Rumi Borthakur, Headmistress of the Swahid Kashi Deka High School and Mr Chaniram Mala, president of the Tiwa Students' Union. Earlier in the morning, a colorful procession was taken out which was followed by felicitation of some local artistes. The New district committee of Morigaon AASU has been formed with Mun Thakuria as the president and Jhanendra Kumar th, as the general secretary.
