AASU demands constitutiol safeguard for indigenous people

KOKRAJHAR, March 10: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Kokrajhar District unit staged a sit-in for three hours at Swahid Bedi in the heart of Kokrajhar twon on Tuesday demanding constitutiol rights and safeguard for the indigenous people of the State.

The Kokrajhar district unit of the AASU observed the State-wide protest in Kokrajhar from 11 am to 2 pm. The AASU activists of the district also got together at the Kokrajhar district headquarter.

Talking to reporters, the general secretary of Kokrajhar district AASU bajyati Ray said, “We will not give in, our demand is not new. Constitutiol safeguard must be there to ensure protection of indigenous people of the State.”  He also added, “We have seen that the government has been resorting to using delaying tactics whenever we reiterate our demand.”

Ray alleged that the Tarun Gogoi government had been trying to create confusion among the people of the State.
