AASU Hatighuli regional unit in Sivasagar felicitates meritorious students

GAURISAGAR: “Perseverance and hard work are the keys of success in life. Poverty is not a barrier in success. Anybody can reach his goal if he has strong will power,” said Sarat Hazarika, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) education secretary, while speaking in the felicitation meeting held at Durlav Chandra Gogoi Jakaichuk HS School, Charing on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district on Saturday.

The meeting was organized by AASU Hatighuli regional unit to felicitate the meritorious students who performed brilliantly in the HSLC and HSSLC examination, 2019. Addressing the gathering as a chief guest, Hazarika lamented the lack of proper infrastructure and discipline in government schools due to which private schools performed better than government schools.

The meeting was inaugurated by Govin Phukan, adviser of AASU, Sivasagar district committee. The other dignitaries who attended the meeting were Ashim Dutta, president of AASU Sivasagar district committee, Girindra Kumar Gogoi, Principal of Durlav Chandra Gogoi Jakaichuk HS School, Surjya Kumar Dutta, Headmaster of Silpukhuri High School and other dignitaries.

Dipika Nath, mother of Titiksha Nath, the 10th rank holder in the HS (Science) exam, took part in the meeting and expressed her feelings. In the function, the Makhan Neog Memorial Award was conferred to Mrinmoy Nath who obtained highest mark in the HSLC examination from the examination centre. On the other hand, Runjun Neog received the Sundhar Nath Memorial Award for securing the highest mark in Social Science. Both the awards carried cash prize, a memento and a dictionary.

In the function, six meritorious students hailing from BPL families - Rahul Arandhara, Abhilekha Nath, Aditya Nath, Monuranjan Saikia, Rahul Das and Aluk Jyoti Chutia - were provided free textbooks and educational aid from the Hatighuli regional unit of AASU.
