AASU observes Sanghati Divas

GUWAHATI, June 12: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today observed Chatra Sanghati Divas all over the State. In Guwahati, the All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) observed the day at Nehru Park with a daylong programme. June 10, 1974 two students – Gajen Ingti and Putul Saikia of Morigaon— were martyred at Bhorbondha when they were on a food and economic movement called in the State by the AASU. Since then June 10 every year is observed as Sanghati Divas by the AASU. In Guwahati, floral wraths were placed on the martyr’s tomb at Nehru Park. AGSU president Rajmil Ali, vice-president Anwar Hussain, advisers Koch Rongpi and Simanta Thakuria, general secretary Raifuddin Ahmed were also present, besides members of committees and sub-committees of the AGSU and students of various educatiol institutions in the city.
