AASU observes Swahid Divas in Duliajan

DULIAJAN, January 18: The Duliajan unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) observed Swahid Divas on Sunday near Swahid Bedi, Duliajan with a day–long programme.

As per the programme, the flag was hoisted by Duliajan AASU president Rubul Bhuyan.  The swahid tarpan was done by Purkanta Hazarika, founder Principal of Duliajan College. Purkanta Hazarika, Satyakum Borthakur, Associate Professor of Assamese Department, Dibrugarh University, Pradip Kumar Neog, Principal of Duliajan Junior College, Arun Sepoty, former president of Duliajan AASU, Karunjyoti Saikia, president of Duliajan Press Club and many others garlanded the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

Various teams from different parts of Duliajan and its neighbouring areas performed gayon bayon, am prasanga and dihaam. Kak Bharali, social activist of Duliajan and Kriti Rajkhowa, former Education Officer spoke on the Assam Agitation. A souvenir was also released.

On the other hand, with a day–long programme at the same location, Dibrugarh district unit of AASU celebrated Shilpi Divas. Four artistes were felicitated. They are Tarun Gogoi, Arun Bordoloi, Dilip Tamuly and Elin Mech.
