JAGIROAD, May 2: The Jagiroad unit of the AASU has expressed sharp reaction over allegedly handing over PWD land to some businessman here.
The AASU alleged that the rural road division of the PWD Morigaon has illegally transferred a part of the department's reserve land at Jagiroad to some businessmen here.
The Jagiroad unit of the AASU while submitting two separate memorandums addressed to the Commissioner and Secretary of the State Revenue Department stated that the PWD rural road division , Morigaon has allegedly handed over 1 bigha of PWD reserved land to some businessman here for construction of a road. The memorandum added that the PWD rural road division, Morigaon handed over the land measuring 1 bigha covering dag no 413 and 414 of Jagiroad revenue town without the knowledge of the NHAI authorities and the state PWD(R).
The memorandum also stated that such illegal transfer of land would block a tural drain and also would pave the way for further encroachments. The memo urged upon the higher authorities to check such illegal steps.
