AASU stages dhar against price hike

Jorhat, May 2: Activists of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Jorhat district unit staged a dhar in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Jorhat in protest against sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities, on Monday. The students’ body also demanded the Central Government and State Government to take immediate step to check price hike at the earliest. They have also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam seeking an intervention in the matter. AASU said both the government at the Centre and in the State had failed to control price rise of essential commodities in spite of repeated demands from various quarters. As a result, the people of the State have been suffering a lot. AASU Jorhat district committee president and secretary urged the government to take steps to check price hike at the earliest.
