AASU stages protest in Golaghat

Golaghat (Dhekial), June 24: The members of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU)’s Golaghat unit today staged a thre-hour sit-in strike near Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding  solution of various problems of Golaghat town here on Friday.

More than 200 activists of the organization participated in the programme. They shouted various slogans against district administration and State Government. They demanded to develop infrastructure of historical educatiol institute Golaghat Govt. Bezbaruah H.S. School, develop the Residential Girls’ Polytechnic as a higher technical educatiol institute, adopting scientific method for draige and parking system, supply of pure drinking water, domestic pipe gas system, and permanent solution of power cut problem and development of the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital.

Talking to reporters, the president and secretary of its organization Madhurjya Goswami and Mamud Ali respectively said that they had discussed the problems with deputy commissioner in 2013 and the DC had assured them to solve the problems within six months. But the problems are not yet solved.

If the district administration and state government fail to resolve the problems immediately, a strong democratic demonstration will be launched, they said.
