Dibrugarh, Dec 1: The district committee members of All Assam Tribal Students’ Union (AATSU) in a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, have urged upon him to me the Dibrugarh Mohanbari Airport after the tribal leader Janeta Bhimbor Deori.

In the memorandum, the members of AATSU expressed their utter regret at the ‘indifference’ of the State Government to posthumously honor the great tribal leader, Bhimbor Deori whose 69th death anniversary was recently commemorated by the tribal populace on November 30. Therefore, AATSU has demanded to honour Bhimbor Deori  by ming the Dibrugarh Mohanbari Airport in the me of the tribal leader, a press release stated.

Further, in the aforesaid memorandum, demand has been placed by the president of AATSU, Bitupan Deori to the State Government to evict the thatched houses of some suspicious citizens who have illegally possessed the railway lands by building houses near railway tracks in Dibrugarh.

The railway lines between Dikom and Dibrugarh are the worst affected with many such illegal houses being seen in that area and transport communication is being affected due to such uuthorized people. Immoral activities are being carried out during night in these houses, the AATSU members alleged.

In this regard, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on October 24 this year, yet till date no eviction proceeding was carried out by the authorities. Thus, if necessary and enforceable action is not taken by the State Government, then stringent protests against the same will be carried out by the members of AATSU in the coming days, the press communiqué stated.
