AATTSA activists stage hunger strike

DEMOW, June 6: Activists of the All Assam Tea Tribes Association (AATTSA), Demow Anchalik Samity staged a hunger strike in Demow ASTC Bus Station from June 4 to June 6 to demand solution of the problems of tea garden labourers. The health of some AATTSA activists deteriorated and they were taken to Demow Adarsha Hospital for treatment. Their demands included increasing the wages of tea labourers to Rs 300, solving Assam-galand border conflict, and other demands. On the last day of the hunger strike, the AATTSA activists submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. The strike was led by Rajkishore Bhumij, president of Demow Anchalik Samity and Diganta Sahu, secretary of Demow Anchalik Samity.
