FROM A CORRESPONDENT

Golaghat, May 10: The All Assam Tea Tribes Student Association’s Golaghat district committee staged a two hour sit-in strike near the DC office here today, demanding appointment of doctors, nurses and supply of sufficient medicines to tea garden hospitals.

AATSA’s Golaghat District Committee general secretary said that it is sad that in the hospitals in the tea garden areas, there were no doctors, nurses and also sufficient medicines, resulting in many tea garden labourers dying for want of sufficient treatment. They said that a few days back a tea garden worker died due to improper treatment in Letekujan Tea Estate under Golaghat district. Later AATSA submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner, Golaghat for taking necessary action in appointing doctors and nurses in the tea gardens areas.
